2RaceWithMe is an exergaming platform for older adults that synchronizes scenic travel videos with hand or foot pedalling; the journey advances only while the user moves. Designed for long-term-care, hospital, and community settings, it brings together accessible exercise, virtual tourism, personal progress, and social connection.

Phase 1: Building the Core Experience — 2020–2022
Established an evidence-based content strategy: designed the first systematic video-suitability study for pedal-based exergaming, evaluating 40 videos with 126 participants.
Created permanent video-sourcing standards: identified smooth camera movement and hometown-evoking scenery as the strongest predictors of suitability for older users.
Made exercise progress visible: introduced post-session feedback showing distance, pedal rotations, and rotations per minute, establishing the foundation for later personal analytics.
Phase 2: Scaling the Care Platform — 2022–2026
Scaled adoption and long-term engagement: expanded 2RaceWithMe to 24 facilities, including 13 paying sites, while the most engaged residents continued riding two to three times per week for more than 22 months.
Built a scalable data foundation: consolidated 158 prototype tables into 91 governed production tables and coordinated a zero-downtime migration, reducing the database by 42%.
Made an evidence-based decision not to scale VR: led the VR interface and backend design of 2RaceWithMe, identified motion sickness as the primary barrier through field testing, and redirected investment toward the more accessible screen-based experience.
Working closely with the project manager and cross-functional development teams, I contributed to three major platform improvements:
Eliminated login friction for older users: translated RFID access into a complete specification covering resident, guest, double-authentication, interface, and backend workflows.
Delivered resident and caregiver analytics: defined personal exercise-history and facility-wide dashboards and helped coordinate frontend and backend development through launch.
Expanded social and international use: helped deliver two-person competition and coordinated French and Japanese localization for care settings in Canada and Japan.
